Finance Professor at UTDallas; Co-Founder and Director of the Center for Finance Strategy & Innovation, NACD, FEI Board Member
David, Director of the Center for Finance Strategy & Innovation and one of its co-founders, is a finance professor concentrating in corporate finance, valuations, private equity finance, turnarounds and restructurings. A specialist in graduate finance education, he is the founding director of the Executive MBA Programs at University of Texas at Dallas and currently serves as Academic Director.
David holds a doctorate in Corporate Finance from the Harvard Business School, an MBA and an electrical engineering degree. His research papers have appeared in many reputable academic journals.
Additionally, he has testified before a committee of the Canadian Parliament, is past chapter president and now board member of Financial Executives International, and is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. David was the first Associate Dean for Executive Education at University of Texas at Dallas. Previously he was professor at IMD in Switzerland, at SMU and the University of Tennessee. He has taught graduate finance courses in London. Paris and Singapore and, earlier, was employed in the investment affiliate of Banque Hentsch in Geneva.
Ven Kumar is the Chief Technical Officer for IBM assigned to PepsiCo. He was previously the CTO for the Walmart account for five years. His interest and specializations is in Blockchain, AI/Machine Learning, IOT and systems architecture. Ven has over eighteen years of industry experience in retail, consumer packaged goods, high-tech manufacturing, and eCommerce. He is on the advisory board of the Center for Finance Strategy & Innovation.
Prior to joining IBM, Ven held positions at HP as the CTO for the Nike Account Team where he was involved in the deployment and testing of their Fuelband ( wearable) prior to the London Olympics. Ven has also been an entrepreneur having been founder and CTO of an eCommerce startup ServiceLane.com that was funded by Austin Ventures and Fremont Group. Prior to ServiceLane, Ven spent about 7 years at Oracle Corp as a practice director in their Advanced database technologies team.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from VNIT in India.

Co-Founder and Associate Director at NACD, University of Texas at Dallas’ Center for Finance Strategy & Innovation, she has served as a visiting graduate finance professor in private equity/venture capital finance, strategic risk management, performance management and technology innovation. A qualified SEC financial expert, Elizabeth has more than 27 years of senior finance and innovation experience as an investment banker, private equity financier, corporate venture capitalist, and McKinsey & Co. management consultant.
In addition to her on-going work as a strategic advisor and board member for private equity and early stage tech companies, she has a long history of distinguished public service as an elected official, trustee, and board member. She has served on the US National Board of Examiners of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award & Performance Excellence Program (US Department of Commerce/NIST).
Elizabeth holds a dual BA in Economics and Political Science from Wellesley College, MBA from Erasmus University Rotterdam School of Management (Netherlands), is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government Senior Executives in State & Local Government program, and holds Director Professionalism certification and Governance Fellow designation from the National Association of Corporate Directors.
